Digital properties we invest in and help run.
Northwoods Ventures backs each of these sites and works as a hands-on partner in running them. Our team is led by Ed Panian, who has spent more than 25 years building and scaling digital media and software companies, including co-founding AmericanTowns Media and Longitude73.
Real pay for 15 skilled trades in every state and metro, from starting wages to the top of the range.
Cost-of-living model. Federal wage data run against local price levels, so an electrician in Houston and one in Boston can be compared dollar for dollar.
Which model years of 20 popular cars, SUVs and trucks to avoid, and which are worth buying, before you ever set foot on a lot.
Proprietary rating. Every model year scored from federal owner-complaint and recall records, not surveys or reviews.
Snap one photo of what’s wrong with your house and get a 0–100 damage score, the trade you need and a typical repair cost in seconds. Know before you call.
Regional pricing model. AI photo assessment paired with our own pricing model, so repair costs reflect local labor rates in every state.

Look up any US tariff code in plain English and see what Customs collects on it today by country of origin: the regular duty plus every additional tariff, with sources and dates.

Today’s water level, percent full and recent change for more than a thousand US lakes and reservoirs, straight from the Army Corps, Bureau of Reclamation, USGS and state agencies.
Agency data only. Every figure carries the measuring agency’s own timestamp and datum, each reading is checked against the lake’s record before it’s saved, and nothing is estimated.
Straight answers for building owners before a commercial roof replacement: how TPO, EPDM, PVC, metal and the other systems go on, where each falls short, how they handle hail and what the warranties cover.
Public bid records. Roof prices from the bid records of Texas schools, cities and counties, each job linked to its documents, and every spec checked against the data sheet or FM test standard it came from.
How old a water heater, furnace, AC or heat pump is, decoded from the serial number on its data plate, with where that age sits on a typical service life.
Tested against real serials. Every date code is checked against real serial numbers whose dates came from the label or the manufacturer before it goes live, and a serial that could mean two years shows both instead of a guess.
How old the typical person with any first name is, with a page for every name people search: how many are alive, when the name peaked, which generation it belongs to, and the names the same age.
Every name, same method. Social Security's baby-name counts since 1880 times its life tables, run the same way for every name, rounded and labeled as estimates, and checked against FiveThirtyEight's method and other published calculators.
